Therapy for people who are tired of pretending everything is fine…
When it’s not.
Are you trying to navigate trauma, burnout, anxiety, depression, or emotion dysregulation, but you keep getting stuck in the same patterns? Do you know what's behind your feelings, have the coping skills, and have named the patterns, but still can’t figure out why you don't feel okay anymore?
You don’t have to do it alone.
In our work together, you can unlearn rules that never belonged to you, discard unhelpful survival habits, rebuild your self‑worth, and make your life feel like yours again.
My expertise is in working with women who have spent their lives being the responsible one, the high achiever, the emotional glue, the one who “has it all together" — and now your nervous system is telling you, “Nope, I can’t function like this any longer.”
Many of my clients are in seasons of identity shift — changing careers, becoming parents, leaving relationships, or finally questioning the roles they were handed growing up. They keep finding themselves in the same exhausting loop of old patterns; even when they know why, they still repeat the same old cycle every day. They’re intelligent, self‑aware, and capable. But now, they’re tired of carrying so much on their own. Something has to give, because performing at this level stopped being sustainable a long time ago. They’ve tried everything: self‑care, self‑help books, venting with friends, even therapy — but nothing has actually helped them move toward healing.
In our work together, we slow the chaos, notice the patterns, and build a self‑concept that’s not rooted in overfunctioning, perfectionism, or survival mode. We dig into what you’ve had to ignore — your needs, your boundaries, your voice, and your sense of ease — so you can finally stop putting yourself last.
Who Do You Work With?
Meet Katie
Hi there! I’m Katie Adams and I’m a Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon. My style is warm, direct, and a little irreverent — because therapists don’t have to be the human equivalent of elevator music. Therapy shouldn't feel like going through a fast-food drive-thru; it should feel like you can finally breathe and take off your “I'm fine" mask.
What I Believe
You don’t need to be “fixed.” You need space to understand yourself without judgment, pressure, or managing anyone else’s emotions. You deserve a version of yourself that isn’t built on perfectionism, people‑pleasing, or overfunctioning. You can live a life that feels like yours, and you certainly don’t need a 20-step plan to explain how to rebuild your life.
How I Work
I help my clients slow down, name what’s happening, and build a self‑concept that feels grounded and real, while walking alongside you rather than handing you a piece of paper telling you what to do. I’m not here to nod silently while you spiral or to pretend that I’ve never dealt with real human things. I am here to give you a place to finally feel like someone gets it.
I blend Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, and Person‑Centered Therapy modalities to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you need trauma processing, nervous‑system stabilization, practical tools, or a space to speak your truth out loud, we’ll tailor the work to what actually helps you move forward.
