About the Therapist
Katie Adams
Hi there! I’m a Professional Counselor Associate in Oregon. My style is warm, direct, and a little irreverent — because therapy doesn’t have to be talking with the human equivalent of elevator music or unloading your deepest pain to a disconnected, clinical robot. My expertise is in working with women and AFAB folks who have spent years being the responsible one, the high achiever, the emotional glue, the person everyone else leans on — and now your nervous system is like, “Actually, no. We’re done.”
What I Believe
You don’t need to be “fixed.” You need space to understand yourself without judgment, without pressure, and without having to manage anyone else’s emotions. You deserve a version of yourself that isn’t built on perfectionism, people‑pleasing, or overfunctioning. You deserve a life that feels like yours, and you don’t need a 20-step plan to tell you how to rebuild your life.
How I Work
My style is warm, direct, and a little irreverent. I’m not here to nod silently while you spiral or to pretend that I’ve never dealt with real human things. I’m here to help you slow down, name what’s happening, and build a self‑concept that feels grounded and real, while walking alongside you rather than handing you a piece of paper telling you what to do.
I blend Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy, and Person‑Centered Therapy modalities to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you need trauma processing, nervous‑system stabilization, practical tools, or a space to finally tell the truth out loud, we’ll tailor the work to what actually helps you move forward.
Who I Work With
I specialize in supporting:
Women and AFAB adults
Young adults in a quarter-life crisis
Parents who are overwhelmed or burnt out
People navigating trauma histories
Those living with anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder
Folks stuck in old attachment patterns
Anyone rebuilding their identity or sense of self
If you’re ready for therapy that feels real, validating, and truly transformative, you’re in the right place.
Supervision disclosure: I practice as a Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Kathleen Stinchfield, LPC, C3623, as required by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. Translation: you get two brains for the price of one — mine in the room with you, and a seasoned clinician supporting my growth behind the scenes.
